Happy 2026!

Happy 2026, and goodbye to the toils of 2025. When a new year rolls around, it doesn’t have to be about creating dramatic resolutions or reinventing yourself overnight. Sometimes it’s enough to renew your effort to improve — something that should already be quietly in motion. Growth isn’t a switch you flip on January 1st; it’s a continuation.

This year also marks my fourth year as a father, and it continues to be one of the most meaningful learning experiences of my life. I had the theories and concepts down from books and conversations, but living it is an entirely different experience. Parenthood has a way of humbling you, teaching lessons you didn’t know you still needed to learn.

Thinking About What We Leave Behind

Lately, I’ve been thinking more about what comes next for my son — not just in terms of opportunities, but in terms of what I leave behind for him to carry forward. That includes habits, values, and the way we move through the world.

A big part of that reflection involves examining our own biases and past generational trauma. It’s uncomfortable work, but necessary. We don’t always get to choose what we inherited, but we do get to choose what we pass on. In many ways, that intention might be the greatest gift we can offer the next generation.

A New Year as a Gentle Reset

Wishing everyone a happy 2026 is about more than marking time. It’s about embracing hope, warmth, and the moments that make life feel meaningful. A new year offers a gentle reset — not a demand to change everything, but an invitation to slow down, reconnect, and appreciate the simple joys that carry us through both ordinary days and unexpected challenges.

Those moments often show up quietly. They don’t announce themselves as milestones, but they’re the ones that shape how the year feels when you look back.

Comfort That Nourishes the Soul

Just as comfort food from places like Black Bear Diner brings a sense of familiarity and warmth, life in the coming year can be filled with moments that nourish the soul in the same way. There’s something deeply reassuring about meals that feel like home — simple, hearty, and meant to be shared.

Comfort doesn’t need to be extravagant. Sometimes it’s just consistency. Sometimes it’s knowing where to go when you’re tired and don’t want to overthink things.

Rainy Days and Warm Bowls

Rainy weather always feels like an invitation for soup — chowders, pho, vegetable soups, and everything in between. The way it fills the house with warmth and familiar smells brings a bit of cheer to otherwise gloomy days. When energy is low, comfort food becomes less about indulgence and more about care.

Sometimes, when you’re tired, the best thing you can do is step out and let someone else cook something warm for you.

A Place That Feels Like Family

Our family loves a restaurant chain called Black Bear Diner, and we often end up there when no one can quite decide what to eat. There’s something comforting about knowing exactly what to expect.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the three bears outside the restaurant — mama, papa, and baby bear — resonate so much with us. My son calls them “us in bear form,” and honestly, I agree with him. It’s a small, playful connection, but those are often the ones that stick the most.

Carrying Comfort Forward

As we move through 2026, I hope everyone finds their own version of comfort — the kind that brings peace and balance. Whether it’s shared laughter, quiet mornings, familiar meals, creative time, or meaningful traditions, these moments have the power to ground us and lift us up when we need it most.

Comfort doesn’t mean standing still. It gives you the strength to keep moving.

Looking Ahead With Intention

Just like capturing comforting meals or everyday moments, may this year be filled with memories worth holding onto — ones that warm the heart long after they’ve passed. These are the memories that shape us quietly, without needing to be extraordinary.

Happy 2026. Keep being creative. Shoot those photos, take those selfies, tell your stories, and continue your growth pathway. Here’s to a year of kindness, connection, reflection, and warmth — carried through every season ahead.
